Some Background

About me

Who am I?

A short introduction

I am a composer based in Dublin, Ireland. I learned the definition of ‘DAW’ and discovered the world of music production towards the end of 2019. Since then, I’ve developed a style that marries traditional orchestration with modern synthesis, working primarily in Cubase.

My compositions live in the space where classical meets contemporary – where string sections harmonize with synthesizers, creating cinematic soundscapes that bridge two musical worlds.

Musical Background

My musical journey began at age 5 at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where I spent a decade studying cello and music theory.

During these formative years, I also sang with the Palestrina Choir (ages 7-11), an experience that, despite its challenges, exposed me to a rich repertoire of choral music.

At 13, I briefly studied piano before choosing to continue my learning independently as I began exploring composition.

The most transformative period of my education came much later on, through studying music production with Chris LaRue Horton. Over two years, our intended hour-long lessons often extended to marathon 4-8 hour sessions, where his comprehensive teaching approach and dedication helped shape my current production style. Chris remains my role model today, and the knowledge and resources he shared with me continue to influence my work today.

My Inspirations

Aside from Chris, I learned a lot from listening to other artists and composers. I started off watching Guy Michelmore videos on Youtube which helped me improve towards the beginning. My favourite composers would be Hans Zimmer, Justin Hurwitz, Joe Hisaishi and Alexandre Desplat.

My Main Goal

The goal is to be known in the production industry for making soundscapes and scores that leave a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.

My Unique Style

I am Chinese, born and raised in Ireland. This has given me the ability to connect Asian and European cultures, as I was classically trained but had always been exposed to Eastern music. Additionally, I listen to and write in all sorts of genres, so I like to take elements from all of those when writing. My focuses are in Orchestral and Electronic music.
